Donut Lab faces criminal complaint over solid-state battery technology claims.

Donut Lab faces criminal complaint over solid-state battery technology claims In April 2026, Lauri Peltola, a former executive at partner company Nordic Nano, filed a criminal complaint in Finland against the startup Donut Lab. The complaint alleges that the company overpromised and significantly misrepresented the capabilities of its “miracle” solid-state battery technology. Core Allegations: The whistleblower claims that several key technical promises made by Donut Lab do not hold up in practice: Performance Metrics: Allegations suggest energy density and battery lifespan metrics have been exaggerated. Production Readiness: Peltola challenged claims that the technology is ready for mass-market deployment, citing a lack of necessary infrastructure to

World’s first all-solid-state battery in production vehicles – Innovation or Snake Oil?

World’s first all-solid-state battery in production vehicles – Innovation or Snake Oil? After over 51 years in the lead acid battery industry, I have always been intrigued in the new battery technology coming out that will compete with the Lithium ion batteries today that are expensive and dangerous to both the environment and operator. There is a company by the name of Donut Lab that is making “out of this world” claims.  They have developed batteries for production vehicles with the following claims: 400 Wh/kg of energy density enabling longer range, lighter structures. Fast charge in as little as 5 minutes. Charge to 100%. Discharge

A Basic Guide To Automotive Battery Paste Mixing

A Basic Guide To Mixing Automotive Battery Paste Successful battery paste mixing combines several process steps. Mixing the paste – (example only as each battery manufacture will have their own proprietary formula) In the paste mixing process, powdered lead oxide is mixed with sulfuric acid, water, and various additives to produce a paste. Lead oxide is a metallic lead resulting from limited oxidation by air.  The product consists of 63 to 80% litharge and about 18-36% free metallic lead in a fine powdered state.  Oxide made by Barton Pot method will generally have about 18 to 28% free metallic lead.  Oxide made by the Ball

Who is Battery Council International (BCI)?

Who is BCI? Battery Council International (BCI) is the leading trade association representing the North American battery industry, an industry committed to responsible manufacturing and sustaining the world’s most successful circular economy. On March 21, 2024, Battery Council International (BCI) marked 100 years of collaboration and innovation in energy storage. It all started in 1924, when a small group of U.S. battery manufacturers met to discuss the possibility of forming a trade association. It wasn’t long before the National Battery Manufacturers Association (NBMA) was formed with 25 official members. A century later, BCI represents the interests of companies involved in every aspect of the battery
